Privacy Policy

Effective date: September 12, 2026

Strila ("we", "our", or "us") operates the Strila mobile application and the strila.app website. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, who can see it, and the choices you have.

Information We Collect

Account Information: When you create an account, we collect your name, email address, and profile photo. If you sign in with Apple or Google, we receive basic profile information from those services. During profile setup we also ask for your date of birth. It is used only to confirm that you are old enough to use Strila, it is stored where only you and Strila can read it, and it is never shown to other users.

Workout Data: We collect the information you provide when logging workouts, including exercise details, dates, photos, and the workout spot you trained at.

Location: With your permission, Strila uses your device's location to show workout spots and activity near you. We do not store your location or your location history. When you log a workout or post a session at a spot, the spot's location is saved with that workout or session, because that is what the post is about.

Photos: When you add photos to workouts, spots, or your profile, those images are uploaded and stored on our servers. Location data embedded in a photo by your camera is removed before upload.

Apple Health (optional): If you turn on "Import workouts from Apple Health" in Settings, Strila reads the workouts your watch or fitness app saved to Apple Health (activity type, start and end time, duration, distance, active calories, and the workout's route when one was recorded) and shows them to you as drafts. Health data stays on your device until you log a draft; only what you log is saved, and it is then treated like any other workout you post. We never use Health data for advertising or analytics, never share it, and never write to Apple Health. You can turn the import off at any time in Settings.

Music Information: If you use the Song of the Workout feature, we access Apple Music metadata (song title, artist name, and artwork) through MusicKit. We do not access your music library or listening history.

Device Information: We collect your device's push notification token to deliver notifications. We do not collect advertising identifiers, and we do not track you across other companies' apps or websites.

Usage Data: Firebase Analytics and Firebase Crashlytics collect basic usage data such as app opens, screen views, and crash reports so we can find and fix problems. You can turn this off at any time in Settings → Privacy → Share usage analytics.

How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect to:

Who Can See Your Information

We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information to third parties.

Other Strila users: Your profile name, photo, bio, and location (the city you enter, not your device position) are visible to other signed-in users. Workouts you log at a spot are shown to athletes nearby and on that spot's page, and people can find you by name, unless you turn off "Show me publicly" in Settings. Turning it off also removes workouts you have already shared. Individual workouts can also be kept private when you log them.

Your email address is never shown to other users. Someone who already knows your address can use it to find your profile, unless "Show me publicly" is off.

Spot pages on strila.app: When a spot is shared, its page on strila.app shows the spot's name, place, features, and a photo attached to that spot. Those pages can be opened by anyone with the link. They do not show who trained there or when.

Your first connection: When you create an account, Strila connects you with its founder so that your feed is not empty on day one. You can remove that connection like any other friend.

Service providers: We use the following services, which may process your data on our behalf:

These services have their own privacy policies governing their use of your data. We may also disclose information when required by law or to protect the safety of our users.

Data Storage, Security, and Retention

Your data is stored on Firebase (Google Cloud) servers in the United States. If you use Strila from outside the United States, your data is transferred to and stored there. We use industry-standard security measures, including encrypted connections (HTTPS/TLS), encryption at rest, and access rules that limit what each user can read. No method of electronic storage is 100% secure.

We keep your data for as long as your account exists. When you delete your account, your profile, workouts, photos, ratings, notes, friend connections, and session participation are removed within 30 days. We may retain reports you filed or that were filed about you, moderation records, and records we are required to keep by law.

Your Choices

Visibility: The "Show me publicly" switch in Settings → Privacy controls whether your workouts appear to nearby athletes and whether people can find you by name.

Notifications: Settings → Notifications lets you turn off each kind of push notification separately (social, sessions, reminders and nudges, and new spots). You can also turn off all notifications in your device's Settings app.

Analytics: The "Share usage analytics" switch in Settings → Privacy turns analytics and crash reporting off.

Apple Health: The "Import workouts from Apple Health" switch in Settings → Privacy turns the import on or off. Your Health permissions can also be changed in the Health app under Sharing.

Location: You can disable location access in your device's Settings app at any time. Nearby spots and nearby activity will be limited without it.

Account Deletion: You can permanently delete your account and its data from within the app (Settings → Delete Account).

Your rights: Wherever you live, you can ask us to access, correct, export, or delete the personal information we hold about you by emailing support@strila.app. We answer within 30 days. If you are in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom, or California, you have these rights under law, along with the right to object to certain processing and to complain to your local data protection authority. We do not sell or share personal information for advertising, and we do not discriminate against anyone for exercising their rights.

Children's Privacy

Strila is not intended for children under the age of 13, and we ask for a date of birth at profile setup so that accounts are not created for them. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child under 13 has an account, report the profile in the app or email support@strila.app, and we will delete it promptly.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The effective date at the top tells you which version this is, and the app records which version you accepted and when. We will let you know about significant changes in the app or on this page. Your continued use of Strila after a change takes effect means you accept the updated policy.
